Godforsaken Isles is made by Crazy Raccoon Games Studio. This page says what the game keeps about you, why, where, for how long, and what you can do about it. The game has no ads, no advertising or tracking software from other companies, and we do not sell anything we keep.
What we keep
- Your account. A random id your device makes when you first open the game, and the keys that let your devices open the account (we keep only a fingerprint of each key, which cannot be turned back into the key). If you link an email, we keep the email and a scrambled form of your password that cannot be turned back into the password. We note which devices and pages are logged in (iPhone, Android, web) and when each was last seen.
- Your game. Your colony, your heroes, what you own, what you did and when: the server plays the game with you, so it holds its state.
- What other players see. The name you pick, the look of your profile, your place on the boards, your alliance and, if you upload them, your profile pictures (as you picked them, a square of at most 512 by 512 pixels, with a small copy of 64 by 64).
- Chat. The messages you write, in public and in private chats, the translations players asked for, and the reports, mutes and blocks you make or that are made about you.
- Purchases. What you bought, when, at what price, the store's own number for the purchase and, on the web shop, the order and any creator code you entered. The store or Paddle takes your payment: we never see your card or your billing address.
- How the game is played. Records of what happens in the game (a floor cleared, a building raised, a screen opened), with the version of the game, the kind of device (Android or iPhone) and the language and country your device is set to. They are kept under your account's random id, never under your name or your email.
- Server logs. As any site does, our servers note the internet address (IP) each request comes from, its time and the address it asked for, which can hold your account's id. They never note your keys.
- On the website. Its pages set no cookie of ours and run no tracker. When you log in, your browser keeps the login in its own storage until you log out. The web shop's checkout is Paddle's, and it loads only when you buy.
We do not ask for your real name, your age, your contacts, your location or your advertising id, and the game does not read them.
Why we keep it
- To run the game for you: your account, your game, your purchases, what other players see of you.
- To keep it fair and safe: server logs, chat, reports and blocks, checks against cheating.
- To make it better: the records of how the game is played, read in sums over many players.
- Because the law asks: records of purchases, for accounting and tax.
Under the EU's and the UK's data protection law (the GDPR) and the Philippines' Data Privacy Act of 2012, these are, in order: carrying out our agreement with you, our legitimate interest in a fair and safe game, our legitimate interest in improving it, and a legal duty.
Chat, pictures and moderation
- Public chats (your server's, your alliance's) are read by the players in them. A private chat is read by the two of you.
- Our moderators read a private chat only to handle a report about it, and then only the lines around the reported one. Every such look is recorded.
- Your profile picture is seen by the players of your server, unless they chose to see heroes' faces instead.
- Reports by several players act by themselves, before a person looks: a reported message can be hidden from everyone; its writer is warned, then other players stop seeing their public messages for a number of fights (private chats are untouched); a reported name shows a stand-in; a reported picture is hidden (one report is enough for an illegal one). Reports from one alliance's players count as one, and new accounts' do not count. Every such act is recorded; our moderators look at each and undo what they find wrong, and only they ever close an account. Think one is a mistake? Write to support@crazyraccoongames.com and a person will look at it.
- Translations: when a player taps translate on a line, its words, without who wrote them, are sent to MyMemory, and the translation is kept with the line.
Who else handles it
- DigitalOcean (DigitalOcean, LLC) rents us our servers, in Frankfurt, Germany, and in Singapore.
- Cloudflare runs the name service of our domain.
- Google Play takes payments made in the Android game and tells us what was bought. Google keeps what it knows of you under its own policy.
- Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited, in the UK) sells what you buy on our web shop: it takes the payment and handles its tax and refunds, keeps your payment details and email under its own policy, and tells us what was bought for which account.
- MyMemory (Translated S.r.l., in Italy) translates the chat lines players ask to have translated.
We give what we keep to nobody else, unless a court or an authority with the right to ask does.
Where it is kept
- Your account (its email, its password's scrambled form, its logins and the list of its characters) is kept in Singapore, whichever world you play on.
- Your game is kept where its world is: Asia 1 in Singapore, Europe 1 in Frankfurt.
- The records of how the game is played and the website are in Frankfurt.
Singapore is outside the European Union and is not on its list of countries with the same protection, so what we keep there is covered by DigitalOcean's data processing agreement, which includes the EU's standard contractual clauses. We look after the servers from the country of Georgia, where we also keep the copies of the backups. Players in the Philippines: what you give us is kept in Singapore and in Germany, and we stay responsible for it under the Data Privacy Act wherever it is.
How long
- Your account, your game and your pictures: until you delete the account.
- Chat messages: 90 days, then erased with their translations. A message someone reported, or that our filter flagged for our moderators, is kept until they have looked at it.
- Reports and blocks: until the account is deleted.
- Server logs: thirty days.
- Backups: thirty days at most (fourteen on the servers, thirty in our own copy).
- Records of how the game is played: 24 months, then erased, whether the account still exists or not.
- Records of purchases: six years after the end of the year of the purchase, as accounting and tax law require.
- What our staff did (support and moderation: what was done to an account and why, and what was searched for): as long as the game runs, so that no staff action can be hidden.
What you can do
- Delete your account, in the game or by writing to us: how to delete an account.
- Delete some of your data and keep the account (a character, your photo, your email, your messages): how to delete some of your data.
- Get a copy of what we keep about you, as a file you can read and take elsewhere.
- Ask what we keep about you and have it corrected.
- Object to our reading how you play, or ask us to stop using what we keep while a question is open.
- Ask a person to look again at something that happened by itself, such as a picture hidden or a silence in chat.
- Complain to the data protection authority of your country (in the Philippines, the National Privacy Commission).
Write to support@crazyraccoongames.com from the email linked to your account, or with your account's id (Settings, Account). We answer within a month.
Keeping it safe
Every connection to our servers is encrypted. Passwords and keys are kept only in forms that cannot be turned back, and only our own keys open the servers. If a breach puts what we keep about you at risk, we tell you and the authorities the law names, within 72 hours of learning of it where the law asks for that.
Children
The game is not made for children under 13, or under the age at which your country lets a person agree to this by themselves (up to 16 in parts of Europe). We do not ask anyone's age. If you believe a child gave us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
When this page changes, its date changes. A change that matters is announced before it applies.
Who we are
